POSITION DETAILS

The EOC Student Service Manager for Student Support Services has the overall responsibility for managing the staff and activities of Student Support Services at the SUNY Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) at Bronx Community College. This includes College Connections Initiative/College Preparatory, counseling, orientation, and college and job placement. Serves as liaison to community resources that benefit the EOC community. He/she reports directly to the Executive Director of the Center.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Supervises and evaluates Student Services personnel. Conducts meetings and provides professional development opportunities in order to foster a professional, supportive, and effective support team.

  • Participates in the planning and implementation of standardized tests and other student assessments.

  • Acts as liaison between the Bronx EOC and various public agencies and programs such as the Department of Social Services.

  • Assists the Executive Director and other senior staff members in planning, implementing and supervising grants and other research activities conducted at EOC.

  • Responsible for reporting on activities, participation, and outcomes in regards to Students Services areas: admissions, counseling, employment and college initiative. Oversees entry of all data concerning these areas into Banner. Prepares status reports as required, summarizing the total activities and outcomes of Student Support Services.

  • Handles exceptional student situations with respect to student code of conduct and challenges to student success.

  • Supervises Employment Services staff and activities including job preparation, job placement, internships and job career fairs.

  • Supervises activities of the College Initiative, including the Coordinator and Academic Advisor.

  • May represent the Center Director at public and community events.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education and/or related field

  • Six years of professional experience working with low income populations

  • Experience working within a postsecondary educational institution and/or in adult education

  • Exceptional experience with vocational training, computer literacy, employment/internship and GED/ESL programs

  • Experience with grant writing and program reporting experience

  • Team leading and supervisory experience

  • Oversees a variety of student programs for the EOC, such as community outreach, orientation, admissions, testing, registration, student activities, and job placement

  • Assists senior management in analyzing student needs and developing student service plans, implementing initiatives and assessing performance

  • Develops relationships with college departments, university groups and outside agencies and community organizations to support and enhance student services

  • Collects, analyzes and reports on student program activities, participation, and outcomes

  • May supervise professional and/or clerical staff

  • Performs related duties as assigned

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$57,790 - $79,242; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
