CUNY Academic Advisor (2 positions) in Brooklyn, New York
Kingsborough Community College is seeking two Academic Advisors who will report to the Director of Academic Advisement.Working closely with the Academic Department Chair and Director of Liberal Arts, provides expert and/or specialized academic advisement counseling to a diverse student population.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Offer comprehensive advisement counseling to continuing Liberal Arts students, including those students who are pursuing allied health career programs (ie. Pre-Clinical Nursing).
Advise students on developmental and departmental course sequencing, academic planning, college policies, program procedures/guidelines and student support services.
Develop academic plans, perform unofficial graduation audits and monitor student progress towards successful degree completion.
Monitor student performance and take appropriate action, when necessary, to resolve academic issues regarding degree requirements.
Serve as a Liberal Arts academic information resource for other areas of the College.
Facilitate specialized workshops for continuing students regarding academic advisement and registration issues.
Maintain student advisement files and track advisement activity.
May provide career and transfer information and/or specialized program advisement.
Support and provide advisement services throughout all registration periods, including first time freshmen and new transfer in-person registrations.
Bachelor's Degree required.
College level advisement experience preferred. The preferred candidate will have experience working with a diverse college student population, and the ability to work independently and carry out assignments.

Establishes and maintains student files, databases and records; prepares activity reports and analyses
May specialize in providing advice on specific programs or to specific student groups
Performs related duties as assigned.
