CUNY Admin Organizational and Business Effectiveness Specialist - Sustainability/ Energy Specialist (Facilities Management & Planning) in New York, New York
This position reports to the Executive Director of Facilities. In addition to the overview duties the Sustainability/Energy Specialist will:
Plan informational presentations and promote energy and water conservation, waste minimization, recycling and procurement of green products by working with students, faculty, and staff to create an understanding and awareness of sustainability issues.
Serve a liaison between various campus entities to assure communication and resource coordination for sustainability programs and projects.
Interface with CUNY central and other regulatory agencies for the purpose of complying with regulations and obtaining grant money as maybe available.
Compile and analyze College data on sustainability initiatives; prepare management reports.
Interpret sustainability goals and track performance metrics to assess program effectiveness.
Improve the effectiveness of the College's sustainability practices by monitoring best practices related to sustainability at the College's benchmark peer institutions and other select institutions.
Recommend and implement new sustainability programming and modifications to existing programs.
Complete annual greenhouse gas emissions inventory for College and action plan for reducing GHG emissions and energy use.
Provide training and assistance to facilities management and other areas in order to realize energy conservation goals.
Foster a culture of sustainability through ongoing organizational communications and education and support the College’s long term sustainability vision, mission and operating principles;
Chairing (or proxy to chair) the sustainability committee, especially regarding hosting monthly meetings and overseeing efforts within the College continually redefining scope of the committee, duties and accountability;
Identify potential funding sources and financial incentives for implementing projects by assisting in grant applications and partnership proposals.
Serving (or proxy to administrative official) on the TGIF Grant Making Committee.
Liaising with the Sustainable CUNY team as university efforts are increased across the board to collaborate on sustainability-related goals.
Grant writing (including, but not limited to, NYPA OMAP administration and SIF grant writing.
Write an energy-management policy.
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

Coordinates efforts between departments and between the college/unit and external participants
