POSITION DETAILS

The University Office for Diversity and Recruitment (ORD) promotes the University's goal of a diverse workforce by visibly providing strong leadership and commitment to diversity, broadening outreach and recruitment, strengthening institutional diversity infrastructures, developing strategic diversity plans, and cultivating diversity awareness and appreciation. ORD is also responsible for the overall development of strategy related to recruiting top tier talent which includes the development and execution of recruitment sources and integration and management of all aspects of the talent acquisition function, including building a pipeline of diverse talent.

The Administrative Coordinator performs analytical, research and administrative related work supporting the University's recruitment, search, selection and retention activities and initiatives. Reporting to the Deputy to the University Dean for Diversity and Recruitment/University Director Talent Equity & Compliance, the Administrative Coordinator will perform the duties outlined in the CUNY Title Overview, in addition to the following duties:

  • Promote diversity as a core value of the institution and a critical component of excellence;

  • Foster the hiring and development of a diverse workforce through broad and meaningful recruitment and outreach to the University's protected groups;

  • Work with Chief diversity officers to oversee compliance activities;

  • Provide reports to internal and external stakeholders;

  • Engage with faculty and academic leaders to create innovative programs to support and retain members of the University's protected classes; and

  • Develop measurable diversity goals which assess results within the University's accountability systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Two years' relevant analytical, administrative and operational work experience preferred.

  • Detail oriented and accurate with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.

  • Effective writing, editing, proofreading and presentation skills.

  • Proactive, flexible, and customer focused with strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders in a multi-constituency environment.

  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills to coordinate work plans, prioritize work, manage multiple assignments and priorities, and meet deadlines.

  • Strong work ethic, character, and personal integrity to work with the utmost professionalism, confidentiality and discretion.

  • Computer proficiency using administrative or academic programs, systems or databases.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Supports projects, initiatives, and activities that impact an academic or administrative department.

  • Manages basic office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information.

  • Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

  • Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections.

  • Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.

  • Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.

  • Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.

  • May supervise office staff and student workers.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
