CUNY Admissions Manager (Admissions & Recruitment, Division of Student Affairs) in New York, New York


Reporting to the Director of Admissions & Recruitment at Hunter College, in addition to the duties listed in the CUNY Title Overview, the Admissions Manager will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Manage the overall undergraduate admissions operation, which processes over 70,000 undergraduate admissions applications a year, and oversee all aspects of the admissions process, as well as act as primary supervisor of the Transfer Course Evaluation unit.

  • Provide direction for developing a strong applicant pool and collaborate with faculty and staff to track and report on all admissions and recruitment efforts.

  • Ensure that admissions processes and tools provide seamless support to constituents, faculty and applicants.

  • Work closely with the relevant academic offices to review and monitor current Articulation Agreements between Hunter and other CUNY colleges.

  • Research and develop Articulation Agreements and Dual-Admissions programs with non-CUNY junior colleges to enhance transfer student enrollment.

  • Support relevant recruitment efforts as needed, specifically the development and maintenance of special Partnerships Programs with Community Based Organizations.

  • Provide data analysis and reporting on application and enrollment trends.

  • Serve as a member of the senior management team in Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment working collaboratively and strategically to achieve enrollment goals and support the Division of Student Affairs’ priorities and efforts in recruitment, diversity, student programming, retention, and alumni relations.


Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required. Master's Degree preferred.


The preferred candidate must demonstrate:

  • Managerial experience overseeing a complex environment, preferably in higher education

  • Demonstrated experience developing relationships with external constituents and partners

  • Experience training and developing staff with varying levels of skill and experience

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team

  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks while working efficiently and independently

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Knowledge of applicable software applications; CUNY SIMS and/or PeopleSoft/Oracle


Manages on- and off-campus recruiting activities at a College or unit.

  • Develops and implements marketing strategies and recruitment initiatives

  • Manages one or more teams of admissions/recruiting staff, providing supervision, training, and development

  • Manages application review processes

  • Maintains relationships with selected academic divisions/departments to coordinate recruiting efforts

  • Reviews and analyzes the effectiveness of enrollment, recruitment, and marketing strategies

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

($61,394 - $81,855). Salary commensurate with experience.
