CUNY Assistant, Associate or Full Professor- Biomaterials in New York, New York


The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Grove School of Engineering at the City College of New York (CCNY) of the City University of New York seeks to recruit an outstanding tenure-track faculty member to our expanding program. Preference will be given to candidates with research expertise in the areas of biomaterials, tissue engineering, or nanotechnology. Collaborative synergies with other major research concentrations in the department are highly desirable. The successful candidate will develop a vibrant externally funded research program as well as excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. It is expected that appointment will be made at the level of Assistant Professor, although outstanding candidates at more senior levels will be considered.

The research environment in the CCNY Biomedical Engineering department is outstanding, with departmental strengths in the areas of tissue engineering/nanotechnology/biomaterials, cardiovascular engineering, musculoskeletal engineering, and neural engineering. Current research support comes from many sources, including the NIH, NSF, DoD, and NASA as well as industrial partnerships. The National Research Council also ranks the CCNY Biomedical Engineering Department as #1 in the nation in diversity. Additional information on the department can be found at . This position will also share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.


Ph.D. degree or equivalent in relevant or closely related field. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement in the targeted research areas, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
