FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Computer Science Department of the City College of New York is seeking outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level.
The target area is Data Science as broadly defined, including machine learning, natural language processing, data mining, information retrieval, big data analytics and applications in areas such as bioinformatics, genomics, and natural and social sciences. Examples of subfields of particular interest within machine learning include applications in computer vision and image analysis, biomedical computing, and computational linguistics .
The successful candidates will be expected to be actively involved in research, teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute broadly to the academic life of the department. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching, research and guidance duties in Data Science. He/she will also share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, or equivalent, and n outstanding academic or industrial record are required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and the ability to attract significant research funding. Must meet ICRA employment eligibility requirements for appointment.
