POSITION DETAILS

The Assistant Vice President of External Affairs & Advancement is a direct report to the President of Hunter College and is responsible for spearheading the office of External Affairs. The position’s main strategic goal is to enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high level external audiences through outreach to build awareness and appreciation for University/College mission.

The position will also be responsible for:

Creating effective partnerships with government, business and community organizations

Managing issues involving the College in the local political, governmental, and business arenas

Cultivating and maintaining internal and external relationships to enhance the College’s profile within the multiple communities where College buildings are located

Partnering with various College offices to ensure a unified approach to external issues and manage day-to-day external affairs activities

Serving as a liaison to the Hunter College Campus Schools

Serving as a liaison to Manhattan Hunter Science High School

Related duties as assigned by the President

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY’s Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and eight years’ related experience.

Furthermore the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Ability to influence Hunter College at various levels and build consensus towards achieving the vision and goals of the College

  • Highly effective presentation and public speaking skills with a proven ability to relate to diverse groups of people and communicate effectively at all levels.

  • Proven track record of managing initiatives through to successful completion.

  • Knowledge in developing and managing public relations/external affairs strategies

  • Demonstrated experience in consulting and advising senior-level executives.
