CUNY Associate or Full Medical Professor - Clinical and/or Translational Research in New York, New York
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Community Health and Social Medicine at the CUNY School of Medicine seeks applications for 1-2 tenure track faculty positions at the Associate or Full Professor rank to conduct research and teach courses in population and community health (e.g. epidemiology, social determinants of health, chronic disease burden, evidence-based medicine, health care systems and policy, health equity etc.) to medical students. These individuals will be expected to have and maintain extramurally funded research in their area of expertise; engage in the development of population-health and/or clinical interdisciplinary research and grant writing; mentor students; and provide professional service.
These positions represent excellent ground floor opportunities to contribute to the development and growth of a newly expanding medical school and to shape the direction of academic initiatives in community and population health by building upon a school of biomedical education with a long and rich history of recruiting underrepresented populations into medicine, increasing medical services in underserved areas, and increasing the availability of primary care physicians.
We are seeking a physician scientist who has demonstrated ability to conduct high-impact externally funded clinical and/or translational research and to compete for scientific funding focused primarily on critical urban health challenges, such as chronic disease prevention and management/related behaviors, substance abuse/addiction, and aging.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral-level degree in a relevant discipline (medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics, public or community health) or other doctoral-level degree combined with another advanced degree in a relevant discipline. Current and sustained record of independent extramural funding in clinical or translational research.
Preferred Qualifications: MD with graduate level training in epidemiology or biostatistics
Strong methodological skills in quantitative and/or qualitative research and content expertise relevant to clinical and population health. Evidence of productivity in scholarship and evidence of current grant-funded research. Experience in teaching and mentoring of students and junior faculty. Interest and experience in studying and promoting health equity. A commitment to teaching and team-building within an institution driven by its mission to improve health for all.
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.
