CUNY Associate or Full Professor - Endowed Chair in Western Hemispheric Studies and Trade Policy in New York, New York
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College invites nominations and applications for appointment as the Austin W. Marxe Chair of Western Hemispheric Affairs and Trade Policy. The position has tenure or accelerated tenure-track status at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor depending on qualifications. The endowed position comes with a reduced teaching load, discretionary research funds, and an annual stipend. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in policy-relevant, theoretically and empirically grounded research in international affairs. The candidate will primarily teach courses for the Marxe School’s new Master of International Affairs (MIA) to be launched in the Fall 2017. The candidate may also be asked to teach courses in the Marxe School’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program in the areas of research and analysis and/or policy analysis and evaluation.
The successful candidate will be expected to raise the visibility of the Marxe School in global education. The Chair will shape the strategic direction of the MIA degree and advise students pursuing international careers. He/she will share responsibility for committee and School assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
The successful candidate will have a record of scholarship in the areas of western hemispheric affairs and/or trade policy that merits appointment at the rank of either Professor or Associate Professor. Relevant experience in the policy-making, non-profit or private sectors and fluency in languages of the hemisphere will strengthen the application. Candidates should have an active agenda of current research with high promise of external funding. Candidates must have a terminal degree (PhD, DPhil, DrPH, JD, etc.) in a field related to international affairs. Also required are a commitment to teaching and mentoring and enthusiasm for working with others for the good of the institution.
