CUNY Communications Electronic Media Manager in New York, New York
The CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (GSPHHP) seeks to provide a collaborative and accessible environment for excellence in education, research, and service in public health, to promote and sustain healthier populations in NYC and around the world, and to shape policy and practice in public health for all. The School offers a range of innovative master's and doctoral degree programs and is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. The School is consolidating from a consortium across four campuses to a unified graduate school located in a single building in Central Harlem.
The CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy invites applications for the Electronic Media Manager. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Electronic Media Manager is responsible for developing and implementing electronic communications that supports the School, develops its brand and further its mission. This includes expanding and managing School’s website and social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube), as well as other online and multi-media communications and marketing campaigns.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Provides leadership and oversight for the School’s electronic media and communications programs and strategies;
Leads efforts to expand the School’s electronic and media presence to promote the achievements of students, faculty, staff, alumni and partner organizations and to engage prospective students, community members and other collaborators;
Provides news and information to media outlets and multimedia services;
Consults with the School’s Administrative and Academic leadership to assess the electronic media and communications needs and develop strategic communication and media campaigns;
Develops electronic communications messages and materials including web pages, podcasts, videos, online newsletters, news releases, and reports;
Oversees the development and implementation of electronic communication policies, guidelines, and standards; adheres to communications and branding standards;
Designs and determines technical specifications for electronic media and communications programs and strategies;
Manages the School’s website and social media communications, including design and content;
Manages electronic tools for tracking and analyzing data on electronic media projects and campaigns such as data on exposure, traffic and inquiries;
Creates and maintains databases, archives, and other content associated with electronic media projects;
Coordinates with CUNY’s Office of Communications and Marketing on specific campaigns, projects and programs;
Monitors website to ensure proper operation, maintains backups of websites, updates server software as needed
May supervise staff.
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
A preferred candidate should have:
Six (6) years of experience in electronic communications, web design, or related field.
Communications experience in higher education, non-profit or public sectors.
Experience designing and managing digital communications and media including websites, social media, video, audio and podcast materials for organizations.
Ability to understand and translate client needs into appropriate digital formats and content.
Excellent interpersonal and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines.
Ability to take direction and work independently.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Manages electronic, online and multi-media communications, providing editorial, technical and production expertise.
Consults with client staff to assess needs and determine design and technical specifications
Plans communications messages, formats, and designs which meet clients' needs and have impact with the intended audience(s)
Coordinates the efforts of internal and external professionals to implement and disseminate electronic media projects
Creates and maintains databases, archives, and other content associated with electronic media projects
Develops production policies and standards and adheres to communications and branding standards
Supervises staff as needed
Performs related duties as assigned.
