CUNY Director, Graduate Programs Admissions - Weissman School of Arts and Sciences in New York, New York


With more than two hundred faculty members in thirteen departments, the George and Mildred Weissman School of Arts and Sciences has the largest teaching staff of the three schools that make up Baruch College. It offers general education and upper-level classes to undergraduates from across the college, including over 4000 majors, and graduate education to a select group of students who have met its rigorous admissions standards. The school has a tradition of offering personal and individual attention to students at both the undergraduate and the graduate level.

Reporting to the Dean of the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, the Director of Admissions provides leadership and manages recruiting and admissions for the Weissman School’s Graduate Programs, which include the MA in Corporate Communication, the MS in Financial Engineering, the MS in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, the MA in Mental Health Counseling and the MA in Arts Administration. The Director is the Chief Enrollment Officer for the School and oversees Admissions staff. This person is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies for all graduate programs in the School. He or she develops recruitment plans and supervises the successful execution of all stages of the graduate application process. The Weissman School is in the process of expanding its graduate offerings through the addition of new master’s programs as well as international programs, and the successful candidate will be innovative and help to promote and market such programs. This person is a key participant in school-wide strategic planning and is responsible for ensuring admissions activities are consistent with strategic priorities. The Director interacts with the faculty program directors and faculty leadership on various initiatives.


Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of significant and progressive administrative experience in higher education are required; master’s degree strongly preferred. Must have demonstrated leadership skills to manage a multi-faceted unit. Must have a demonstrated ability to develop plans and initiate change within a complex higher education environment. Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, as well as the ability to interact with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, students, administrators, staff, employers, alumni, and benefactors. The successful candidate will also have proficiency in managing student information systems.


Develops, implements, and manages one or more major admissions and recruiting functions.

  • Manages overall recruitment and admissions processes

  • Develops recruiting strategies for the College and/or specific programs or groups and works closely with academic departments, programs, and administrators to coordinate marketing and recruiting

  • Manages the development and distribution of recruiting materials and communications of all kinds

  • Manages admissions operations and staff, including coordination with outside organizations and University administration

  • Oversees department budget including developing detailed proposals to support recruitment and admissions

  • Evaluates and reports outcomes; uses information in statistical, fiscal, and other reports to make improvements to the recruiting process

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
