CUNY Distinguished Lecturer - Business Consulting (Management) in New York, New York


Reporting to the Chair of the Narendra Paul Loomba Department of Management, the Business Consulting Distinguished Lecturer serves as the Business Consulting Director and as the Administrative Course Coordinator (ACC) for extant and future business consulting curricula within the department and school. The ACC has an important role in quality assurance of course delivery at Baruch College in the Zicklin School of Business. The purpose of the ACC is to provide particular academic services to faculty and students for the required BUS 9601or its substitute. The services offered through this position constitute necessary activities for our students to have a strong foundation as well as for the Management Department and the Zicklin School of Business to function effectively. The ACC enact responsibilities involving scheduling, curriculum management, adjunct selection and training, and learning assessment. Some of such responsibilities may be allocated to faculty members other than the ACC in a given discipline area or determined by a collaborative process within the area. The responsibilities will also include securing consulting opportunities with local employers of all kinds including businesses, not-for-profits,or government/university offices as well as coordinating with the Office of Graduate Programs and Graduate Career Management Center.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develops topical content for the Business Consulting course, manages the scheduling of courses and administration of academic year requirements to meet the School's goals and objectives.

  • Teaches multiple sections and assists in developing new curricula.

  • Secures consulting opportunities with local employers and coordinates with the Graduate Career Management Center's employer relations team to maintain a database of employers.

  • Works with the Zicklin School's Office of Assessment, Accreditation and Program Learning to perform assessments and track student performance in order to make periodic changes.

  • Supports strategic planning activities;assesses outcomes and makes recommendations regarding resource allocations.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Evening and some weekend hours may be required.


Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree and recommended five years related work experience preferred. PhD or equivalent in related field as well as teaching experience in business consulting at the college or university level,particularly in the areas of: a) Business, Society, and Sustainability; b) Entrepreneurship; c) Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management; d) Operations Management; and e) Strategic Management as well as other major business functions are also preferred. Attention to detail and solid written and oral communication skills are required while computer skills are desirable. Excellent interpersonal skills to work with students, staff and faculty also required.
