FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

The Department of Computer Information Systems at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) invites applications for an Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position.

The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) is an integral part of City University of New York system with the largest college enrollment in the system of over 25,000 students. It is strategically located in downtown Manhattan in close proximity to the artistic communities of Tribeca and SoHo, the dynamic downtown financial district, and the center of New York City government at City Hall.

The Computer Information Systems Department is undergoing a process of growth and renewal and would like to attract new faculty that will share and contribute to this process through teaching, research and guidance in area(s) of specialty. They will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions for the good of the institution.

Faculty are expected to teach all levels of courses in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, and Computer Networking. Participate in college, department and professional activities, such as curriculum development, grant writing, assessment, faculty development, and mentoring student projects. Productive scholarship expected. Evening/Weekend schedule may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Expertise in one or more of the following preferred: cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, networking technology, mobile media computing, visualization and virtual environments, health informatics, gaming programming, data base design, data warehousing and computational science. Further, experience with teaching and learning technologies preferred.

For Assistant, Associate or Full Professor: Ph.D. in any CS, IS, IT, or CE related fields required for professorial titles. Evening/weekend schedule may be required. Experience with teaching and learning technologies preferred. For Associate or Full Professor, candidate must have a record of significant achievement in the field. Three years college teaching experience preferred.

For Instructor: Master’s degree and active progress towards a Doctorate required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, an interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the college. Persons appointed in the instructor title are only eligible for five (5) annual appointments. Appointments to a professorial title subsequent to service as an instructor will only be considered if the candidate has obtained the qualifications for professorial ranks as stated above. Instructors with ABD preferred.
