IT Associate




Instructional Computing and Information Technology (ICIT) at Hunter College is seeking an IT Associate to support the College’s role in as a Project Coordinator/VIP Support. This position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for ICIT/Chief Information Officer The position of Project Coordinator/VIP Support Technician entails IT maintenance and operational matters, end-user support services and special projects and initiatives. The Project Coordinator/VIP Support Technician must possess technical proficiency, a commitment to working as a member of a support team and dedication to customer service. In addition to the General Duties, duties and responsibilities include performing and supervision of, but are not limited to:

  • Oversight for work of 2+ technicians ensuring issues are addressed and resolved expediently and with proper documentation.

  • Break/fix support

  • Image management and deployment

  • VIP and executive support

  • Asset management

  • Mobility solutions and architecture

  • Virus solution evolution and support

  • OS and application upgrades and patching

  • Operational process oversight and knowledge solution development

  • Cell phone and tablet support and management

  • Track and complete projects that involve ICIT


  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

  2. An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position

  3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency

  4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.


Preferred qualifications include;

  • Ability to learn and support new services

  • Knowledge of Hunter and/or CUNY supported services

  • Ability to develop a variety of approaches for problem solving

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills for service delivery
