CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Under the direction of the Manager of Area of Support, the Infrastructure Security Specialist will oversee the day-to-day security risks for the main Campus Information Technology department. In this capacity he/she will serve as a lead person for the streamlined operation of the Information Technology Department. The applicant must be competent in the administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices, IP camera, and network management systems. He/she will also implement a range of information systems security analysis functions utilizing general knowledge of and involvement with networking systems and operating systems. The scope of this position includes but is not limited to the following:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Collaborate and consult with the Director of Public Safety to support its specialized systems.
Assist in the configuration and maintenance of CISCO and Alcatel firewalls, switches, and security appliances for access to vital business applications.
Manage security devices including IP CCTV, firewalls, switches and other security hardware devices in response to agency requests.
Troubleshoot failures of security network hardware and software applications, IP Camera, as well as security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
Manage digital electronic access control systems and other security software.
Collaborate with network/system administrators, and public safety to improve campus-wide network security measures and infrastructure.
Collaborate with the Information Security Office to analyze security issues utilizing network and security tools.
Maintain security standards and procedures for personal privacy information and personal credit information.
Assist Public Safety with software and hardware issues that deal with criminality using social network.
Provide training for staff regarding security software and hardware.
Develop metrics, processes and procedures for monitoring systems usage to detect security violations and intrusions.
Exercise appropriate risk management; balance between business requirements and security requirements.
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
Preferred Technical Skills
Familiarity with security hardware including but not limited to CCTV systems, access control, software and databases used by the Department.
Knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies.
Knowledge of configuration and maintenance of Cisco and Alcatel switches, firewalls, and routers.
System and network administrator experience.
Familiarity with Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Macintosh server and client operating systems.
Commitment to quality and process improvement.
CompTIA Security+ or any Cisco certification.
New Hire: $58,997* Incumbent: $66,665 *This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only.
