GENERAL DUTIES

Conducts academic research in connection with CUNY programs; may assist faculty, staff, and students in conducting research and lead research efforts involving others.

  • Develops research plans and proposals and participates in acquiring funding

  • Collects, analyzes, and assures validity of data

  • Writes progress reports; writes and publishes findings

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Department of Community Health and Social Medicine at the CUNY School of Medicine is seeking a senior level Research Associate to:

  • Serve as the lead data analyst across multiple studies.

  • Serve as a statistical methods resource to CHASM faculty.

  • Identify appropriate statistical methodology needed in support of study objectives.

  • Conduct high-level statistical analyses.

  • Contribute to decision-making on study design and data collection, ensuring alignment with study objectives.

  • Develop analysis plans, ensuring statistical methods and corresponding details are appropriate and consistent with the study design.

  • Assist with the preparation of statistical analysis sections for manuscripts and funding applications.

  • Analyze data from research studies to meet objectives of the study protocol.

  • Maintain databases across multiple projects.

  • Oversee the data management of CHASM faculty studies.

The Research Associate is responsible for meticulous data analysis and data management for multiple ongoing research studies, including (but not limited to) analyzing and interpreting data; conducting outcome analyses; developing analysis plans for cohort, case-control and RCT studies; data cleaning; database development and maintenance; and the overall management of data systems and statistical analyses for the CHASM research portfolio.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Doctoral Degree in a related field and demonstrated research ability.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Doctoral-level degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, or a closely related field and at least 1 year of relevant work experience. Strong research and analyses skills and an understanding of scientific research in general. Experience and knowledge of database development and management (preferably Qualtrics or REDCap). Practical understanding of fundamental statistical concepts and methodologies. Proficiency in statistical methods used to assess outcomes of clinical trials, quasi-experimental, intervention and multi-level studies

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced analytical skills, including high-level experience with multi-level modeling and statistical programming packages (preferably R, SAS, or Stata). Ability to direct spatial and geographic analyses desired. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences. Comfortable working with others in a team environment. Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
