CUNY Student Career Program Manager in New York, New York


The CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (GSPHHP) seeks to provide a collaborative and accessible environment for excellence in education, research, and service in public health, to promote and sustain healthier populations in NYC and around the world, and to shape policy and practice in public health for all. The School offers a range of innovative master's and doctoral degree programs and is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.

The CUNY School of Public Health and Health Policy seeks a Student Career Program Manager. Reporting directly to Associate Dean of Students, the Student Career Program Manager will establish and manage the School’s Office of Career and Alumni Services.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview other duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develops the Office of Career and Alumni services;

  • Plans and manages career planning and job placement activities;

  • Organizes public health career workshops for students and alumni;

  • Creates a network between students and alumni;

  • Organizes career networking events for students and alumni;

  • Develops and maintains an up-to-date database of prospective employers and job openings for public health students and alumni;

  • Organizes public health job fairs with prospective employers for students and alumni; and

  • May supervise staff.


Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

A preferred candidate should have:

  • Master's degree.

  • Prior experience in career services, job placement, resume build up, interview coaching and/or salary negotiations.

  • Higher education experience.

  • Knowledge of public health and related organizations.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Experience using career counseling software programs and computerized resources.

  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekends.


Develops and manages career development programs and services in a College of Unit and assumes a leadership role in the design and delivery of creative approaches to career education and planning.

  • Assists in unit planning, such as setting goals and objectives, and monitors status of progress toward meeting goals

  • Designs and produces outcomes assessment reports; reviews outcomes and feedback and recommends strategies to expand and improve services.

  • Directs a portfolio of targeted career programs, such as mentoring, internship, and alumni programs

  • Manages one or more aspects of career office operations, such as on-campus recruiting

  • Evaluates new technologies, assessment materials, and other career tools, makes recommendations, and acquires/implements them

  • May counsel a limited number of students

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
