LaGuardia Community College seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Health & Human Services. This appointment will begin in fall 2017. General responsibilities for this position include teaching courses in introductory Community Health and a theory/practice course such as Heath Behavior Change or Counseling & Motivational Interviewing. Depending on the candidate's area of interest and expertise, other course assignments may include: Social Welfare & Policy, Social Gerontology, Community Organization & Development, Human Sexuality, Drug & Behavior, HIV/AIDS Science & Society, Epidemiology, and Health & Diversity. This position will also share responsibility for student advising and guidance to prepare graduates for the various career paths available in human services, social work, counseling, human relations, gerontology, psychology, public health, and community health education. Tenure track faculty share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, in addition to professional activities in area(s) of expertise (e.g., publication, service).
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience (e.g, Health Education, Psychology, Public Health, Social Welfare) or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. MSW, LCSW in New York State or MPH with MCHES preferred. Qualified individuals must demonstrate competency through prior teaching experience, applied practice, publications and/or research.
