Reporting to the Director in the Health Sciences Department, the candidate will be responsible for operational coordination of the Veterinary Technology Center (VTC). Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assists with the maintenance, repair, and use of equipment including radiological, surgical, anesthetic, environmental, and regulatory/safety equipment.

  • Coordinates the preparation of and assistance during teaching laboratories.

  • Assists with the purchasing and inventory of supplies needed for the VTC.

  • Assists with compliance regarding all federal, state, and local government regulatory agencies as they relate to the operation of the VTC.

  • Maintains required records/documentations for the VTC.

  • Coordinates the use of the resource room.

  • Maintains updated program resources to support instruction; provide reviews and learning reinforcement on program specific essential skills with clinical phase students.

  • Participates in program, department, and college-wide committees, as well as support college activities.


High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.



  • Current NYS licensed veterinary technician (LVT) and a graduate of an AVMA-accredited program in Veterniary Technology.

  • Minimum of two years' experience as a LVT; one year of supervisory experience.

  • ALAAS certification.

  • Knowledge of modern computer programs; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and Blackboard.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; the ability to work as part of a team and cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

  • Experience with organizational tasks, computerized record keeping, controlled drugs and inventory.

  • Evidence of continued, appropriate professional development.

  • Flexible work hours required.
