CUNY Financial Aid Specialist in Queens, New York
Reporting to the Executive Director of Financial Services, the Financial Aid Specialist will be responsible for the following:
Administer the CUNYfirst Financial Aid module of the student information system for the campus;
Identity and resolve financial aid system issues by running diagnostic queries, and creating new queries; verify accuracy of data and make corrections as needed
Administer, maintain and reconcile departmental databases for student eligibility in various programs;
Identify students who have incomplete documents within their financial aid file and create communications;
Provide data to be used for the reconciliation of the NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) with the TAP Certifying Officer and the Business Office;
Create and provide reports to various staff members;
Attend monthly CUNY Financial Aid CUNYfirst meetings;
Provide support to staff for student system issues reported;
Provide system training for new staff;
Communicate regularly with the Bursar's Office to review students with unpaid tuition bills and compare them to the financial aid applicants for potential financial aid eligibility;
Work in collaboration with the Office of Admissions by providing data to be used in Hobsons outreach;
Liaison with the central office of CUNY Office of Student Financial Assistance to troubleshoot system issues;
Represent the Office of Financial Services at various campus events, such as Open House and Orientation programs, and Financial Service presentation for special program workshops;
Work evenings and weekends, as needed;
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Reviews contracts, disbursements, tuition and fees; validates student eligibility for various programs
Administers, monitors and troubleshoots CUNY financial aid systems as well as Federal and NY State systems in order to ensure integrity of student databases and timely and accurate delivery of funds
Assists CUNY staff, applicants, and students/families with advice on financial aid issues and eligibility
May review and reconcile student payroll processing
Represents the Financial Aid function at Admissions events; works with academic departments as well as Bursar, Registrar, Admissions and Computing offices to assure staff understand and implement financial aid processes correctly
Assists in the development and evaluation of Admissions processes
Prepares documentation, instructions, and materials in various media to support financial aid activities
Performs related duties as assigned.
