I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.
I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

IT Senior Associate
CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Division of Information Technology at LaGuardia Community College provides a unit of professionals dedicated to providing technical support to the division of Adult and Continuing Education (ACE). ACE is made up of 22 instructional departments and 700+ employees which serves over 35,000 students per year. The department of ACE Information Technology (ACE-IT) supports the software, data, applications, and systems needs for the ACE division. Specifically, the ACE-IT department develops new systems and databases used for registration within the divisions 52 fee-based and grant-funded programs. In addition ACE-IT provides IT Helpdesk services and maintains and upgrades all of the division's computers, labs and smart classrooms.
Reporting to the Computer Systems Manager, the IT Senior Associate (Senior Database Manager) will oversee the division's registration systems as well as lead the creation of customized databases, report writing, statistical analysis and disaster recovery planning. Using project management methodology, the Senior Database Manager leads a team of software developers, and is responsible for assuring software requirements definition, design specifications, database integrity, and secured access are delivered as required.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leading the management and support of the ACE Division's fee-based registration systems, currently running in PeopleWare.
Leading the management and supports ACE Division's grant-funded registration system, currently running in a homegrown SQL databases.
Oversees the monitoring, remediation, and development of new data integration components as needed among these core student record systems.
Required to produce SQL queries him/herself while leading other SQL programmers to generate reports from Oracle and SQL Server databases for all campus areas, as well as analyzing the data for stakeholders and proactively suggesting additional queries for more effective analyses in meeting operational objectives.
Coordinates divisional efforts to incorporate and translate new business processes into the Division's technology systems.
Continuously re-assessing the infrastructure for optimization opportunities that would save infrastructure costs and/or getting the best value and performance out of our technology assets.
Provides statistical analysis of data to be used by the division/college for decision making.
Integrates multiple technology systems and manages a variety of systems-related projects.
Create customized reports from different data sources and combines data in order to run aggregated reports.
Creates disaster recovery plan.
Develops documentations for internal and external applications and provides training.
Attends meetings representing the ACE IT department and contribute to analysis/discussion of campus processes and provides the data that is supported by the ACE IT Department.
Develops Crystal Reports interfaces to provide dynamic drill-down interactive reports.
Research and recommend solutions or technologies to improve the Division's processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job duties require schedule flexibility and willingness to work evenings or weekends as required for systems-related tasks.

High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

Salary: New Hire: $81,121 Incumbent: $91,668
