FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Library at the CUNY School of Law is seeking a faculty member who will join us in supporting the needs of faculty and students in providing library services related to the Law School’s public interest mission. We are seeking an individual who is interested in both technical services as well as teaching, and who can be an integral part of the Library’s team as well participate in its collegial administrative process.

The Technical Services Law Librarian oversees technical services including acquisitions and cataloging of all formats, serials control, data and statistics gathering, and manages the library budget. In addition to the unit leadership responsibilities, the successful candidate provides reference services to the law school community and teaches in the Legal Research Program and performs related functions as may be assigned by the Director of the Law Library. This position may include weekend and evening hours to support the day and evening programs.

Law librarians are tenure-track members of the Law School faculty. They work on a 12-month contract with six weeks annual leave and research support for junior faculty. All faculty conduct research and publish scholarly work consistent with a tenure-track position and participate in the Law School's governance process.

QUALIFICATIONS

J.D. or equivalent from an A.B.A. accredited law school and M.L.S. or equivalent from an A.L.A. accredited library school are required.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with OCLC, and MARC formats and knowledge of legal publishing industry

  • Experience with ALEPH or an integrated library system

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Effective analytical and organization skills and ability to manage complex activities and projects

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a team player, and strong service orientation.

  • Teaching experience in a legal research program

  • Experience in staff supervision

COMPENSATION

Commensurate with education and experience Law School Assistant Law Library Professor: $73,476 - $109,135 Law School Associate Law Library Professor: $85,978 - $133,467 Law School Law Library Professor: $100,976 - $163,209
