CUNY Videographer/Editor (Broadcast Associate, Level 2 (Provisional) in Queens, New York
Under supervision, Broadcast Associates perform technical work in a broadcasting operation and/or production environment. Such duties include designing, installing, operating, maintaining and/or modifying all types of broadcast equipment and related software.
There are three Assignment Levels for Broadcast Associate (Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3). All personnel perform related work.
Assignment Level 1: Under direct supervision, performs technical and operational tasks of ordinary difficulty related to the dissemination, duplication and broadcasting of video and audio signals. May perform work with either existing or emerging media technology as needed to operate station. Takes direction/instruction from the director and producer. Interact effectively with other members of the broadcast operation including actors and interviewees.
Assignment Level 2: Under general to limited supervision, performs complex technical work requiring considerable knowledge of studio and production operations. Functions as part of the production team as a video or audio technician and/or lighting grip. Works in remote field production locations, establishing field production systems and operating units.
Assignment Level 3: Under limited supervision, performs the most complex technical work associated with broadcast operations. Manages designs and implements all aspects of work performed by Level 1 and Level 2 Broadcast Associates. Directs technical staff. May function as general shift manager or as manager of a specific technical area.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Division of Marketing and Communication at Queensborough Community College is seeking a talented Videographer/Editor (Broadcast Associate, Level 2) to join our video team in producing thoughtful and engaging video content, and will report to the Communications Broadcast and Multimedia Production Manager.
The ideal candidate will need to identify sets/location, props, and select music that engages our demographic and is appropriate to deliver the message and achieve desired outcomes. While highly technical, a high level of creativity is also required.
S/he will produce video content for multiple channels, including the College website, Facebook and YouTube. This will include a variety of content types from short and engaging promotional videos to long form event videography. Part of the production process will include working with various internal constituencies to conceptualize and create original content as well as identify editorial content that will translate into engaging video.
S/he will perform complex technical work operating video, sound, and/or lighting and related production equipment, as part of a team. S/he will also edit content using software based NLEs, and have knowledge of studio based production environments.
- A high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of full-time satisfactory related experience,
- An Associate Degree and/or 60 college credits from an accredited college in a related field and one year of full-time equivalent experience in a television broadcast environment,
- A BA degree from an accredited college with a baccalaureate major in a related field.
- Qualification requirements for Level 1 plus the following: Two additional years of directly related full-time equivalent experience,
- A Master's-level degree (such as MFA or MS) from an accredited college in a related field and one year of directly related full-time equivalent experience.
- Qualification requirements for Level 1 and Level 2 plus the following: Three additional years of directly related full-time equivalent experience.
- Some positions may require a current, valid New York State motor vehicle license.
Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects or Apple Motion software.
Experience with Sony XD-CAM cameras and workflow.
Experience producing 4K video content.
Experience with live streaming events, including using the NewTek TriCaster.
Experience operating DSLR cameras, both in video production and still photography.
Ability to work with a team collaborating on writing for video production.
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere CC video editing software.
A high level of self-motivation, creativity and attention to detail.
A demonstrated ability to tell a compelling and engaging story through video production.
Experience drafting and analyzing video scripts.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with our diverse body of faculty, staff, students, and other members of the public.
Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
A high level of self-motivation, creativity and attention to detail.
Comfort working with members of a team and being accountable to other team members.
Current knowledge of video and studio production industry trends, plus relevant equipment, systems and technologies.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment, producing promotional content with quick turnaround time.
Computer proficiency using standard office software programs/applications
Ability to create professional-level video aesthetics, an ability to juggle multiple projects, and initiative to kick-start projects in a busy work environment are strongly preferred.
Within the scope of negotiated contracts, the ability to work on and off campus and flexible hours, including overnight, early mornings, weekends and/or holidays.
New Hire: $50,558* Incumbent: $57,132* This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only. Salary may be subject to new contract implementation.
