Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Success (Provost), the Academic Budget and Resource Planning Manager is the principal consultant and advisor to the Provost and the Associate Provost for a broad range of fiscal and associated strategic management and resource planning issues. The Academic Budget and Resource Planning Manager ensures the strategic objectives of the Division of Academic Affairs and Student Success are supported by the budget and works collaboratively with key campus constituents to promote data-informed decision-making to optimize the use of College resources. The incumbent has broadly delegated authority for fiscal and financial operations for the Division and is expected to exercise significant and sound judgment in the development and implementation of administrative policies and procedures relating to the divisional budget and procurement.
Assists with the planning, development and management of the operating budget for the Division of Academic Affairs and Student Success in coordination with the University and College Budget Office. This includes but is not limited to:
Monitor all funding sources related to the Division, to ensure timely and proper allocations to reporting units’ revenues and spending levels.
Analyze and prepare budget projections for adjunct and temporary services funding for each fiscal year.
Reviews monthly variance analyses and reconciliations of budgets and expenditures within the University, College, and the Division systems to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Gather data and coordinate the preparation of budget reports for decision-making and for presentation to internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Financial Plan, Quarterly Reports).
In collaboration with Enrollment Management and school Deans, conduct periodic review and analysis of course offerings for budget implications and efficiency improvements.
Provide curriculum-planning support by working with academic administrators to develop cost analysis for new program proposals and proposed program changes.
Serve as the budget liaison to the Lehman College Budget Office and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
Oversee business processes such as the travel requests, expense reports, reimbursements and procurement consistent with relevant guidelines and regulations.
Train, supervise and evaluate direct reports and related administrative support staff within the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Success.
Other duties as appropriate to the position.
Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.
Master’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related financial area, two or more years of supervisory or management experience and previous experience within a college environment preferably working in a high-level or executive office are preferred.
Knowledge of cost analysis techniques, public institution budgeting and funding procedures, and standards and documentation requirements.
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft ERP systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and knowledge of software to quantify and illustrate complex financial reports, comparisons, impacts and/or projections.
Must have strong organization, administrative and analytical skills, and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community and able to adhere to confidential standards pertaining to this position.
