Lehman College is a senior college in The City University of New York (CUNY) system that prides itself on its commitment to public urban higher education. Located in the Bronx, the College serves its diverse student body of more than 10,000 students by providing a liberal arts education that prepares them for employment, graduate study, and the professions. The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The Department of Nursing at Lehman College is seeking two adjunct College Laboratory Technician to begin after November 15, 2023 who will provide computer laboratory support for nursing students in the evening under the direction of the either the Chief College Laboratory Technician or the Senior College Laboratory Technician. This department includes undergraduate, graduates, and doctoral degrees in Nursing. The Adjunct College Laboratory Technicians will report directly to the Department Chair and perform all computer laboratory duties under the direct supervision of the Chief College Laboratory Technician or the Senior College Laboratory Technician.
The college and this program currently serve undergraduate and graduate students preparing them for employment, the professions, and/or graduate study. Candidates in this position are accountable for rendering quality service to a diverse University environment in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner. Candidate must be able to state the principles and process of providing quality customer services. Excellent office technology skills to perform in a highly functioning academic unit, i.e., telephone application, word processing software, electronic mail, calendar, and other system-wide used throughout the University system. Must have active listening skills, able to clearly and concisely transmit ideas in writing using proper grammar, spelling, syntax, and composition. Able to follow directions that are provided orally and in writing.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
· Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.
· Sets up, maintains and organizes student computer laboratories and oversees the lab conditions needed to conduct effective learning in the evening.
· Assist students with setting us the computers in preparation of nursing examination testing and how to operate the computer equipment.
· Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards
· Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities
· Set up, maintain, and organizes student laboratories in the evening and prepare for computer testing
· Troubleshoot computer equipment in the event of a malfunction
· Technology resource in the aspect of systems, networks, and communications
· Provide faculty support and development opportunities for the use of computer technology in instruction and learning as appropriate
The Department of Nursing is currently housed in the School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing (HS2N). The HS2N is also home to the CUNY Institute for Health Equity. The Department of Nursing programs has over 700 majors in its undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs and is poise to grow over the next five years.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma with a minimum of four years related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.
COMPENSATION
Hourly Salary $31.22 based on the departmental budget up to 225 hours per semester.
