POSITION DETAILS

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Research and Assessment (OIERA) is responsible for, and provides support in, ensuring the implementation of the College’s Institutional Effectiveness Plan (IEP), which provides Hostos with evidence of progress towards achievement of its mission and institutional goals. In this role, OIERA provides institutional oversight, guidance; and support for strategic and operational planning; support to academic departments and administrative, educational, and student support (AES) units regarding the use of assessment results for the enhancement of student learning; research design and methodology guidance; and the data and analyses that support the College’s planning, assessment, and operational functions and inform decision-making across the institution.

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Research and Assessment (OIERA) seeks applications for an Associate Director, reporting directly to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Research and Assessment, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop annual operational plans, using annual assessment reports to support the College’s annual operational planning process; support the college’s accreditation processes

  • Design and perform research using institutional data to evaluate programs, assessing needs, supporting strategic planning, and providing analytical support in collaboration with other members of the team

  • Collaboratively work to continuously improve the college’s annual and periodic assessment processes for administrative, educational, and student support (AES) units, including improving the college’s ability to use assessment results to inform actions.

  • Function as an Assessment Liaison to all divisions at Hostos, providing assistance with annual and periodic assessment processes.

  • Serve on the Institutional Effectiveness Committee (IEC) to support the college’s meta-assessment processes.

  • Responding to ad hoc requests; assisting individual divisions and offices in identifying, collecting, maintaining, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data in response to ongoing compliance needs. Communicate findings of analyses and research to various College constituencies.

  • Serve on the college’s AES Assessment Committee (AESAC) to support assessment processes and practices within Administrative, Educational, and Student Support (AES) units throughout the college.

  • Essential duties require on-campus presence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

The following qualifictions are preferred:

  • Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation

  • Experience with data extraction, manipulation, and visualization

  • Experience using SPSS or similar software for descriptive and inferential statistics

  • Experience in Institutional Assessment (particularly assessment of administrative, educational, and student support (AES) offices)

  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Methods

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Manages College institutional research programs and studies related to the College's mission.

  • Develops relevant, timely and accurate institutional information to administrators, the college community, the external community, and external agencies.

  • Defines and implements research studies, designing and conducting data analyses and analyzing and interpreting results.

  • Researches, develops and recommends policy analyses relevant to anticipated institutional planning, policy, and decision-making needs.

  • Participates in college-wide strategic planning, institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment tasks.

  • Respond to data, table and report requests from college constituencies.

  • Manage surveys, questionnaires and other data-gathering instruments administered by the Office.

  • Manages a library of institutional planning and research documents.

  • May consult with faculty and students in the design of databases for research projects

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience up to a maximum of $94,707.
