CUNY Campus Service Center Specialist in Bronx, New York

POSITION DETAILS

The Campus Service Specialist will work under the general supervision of the Director of Campus Administrative Services to provide operational and administrative supervision of the Campus Service Center at Bronx Community College. Oversees and coordinates inventory control, sales and returns, vendor relations, Bronco Card management, and related reporting. May supervise regular and/or temporary customer service/stock management staff and/or students.

Additional duties:

  • Oversee the processes of the Campus Service Center, including purchasing of supplies, special orders, receiving and shipping, and return of overstocked or defective merchandise.

  • Supervise personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.

  • Monitor and coordinate the payment of invoices and freight bills on blanket purchase orders, small purchase orders, and check requests.

  • Work with the Director of Campus Administrative Services to prepare and review, recommend, implement, and administer operating policies and procedures.

  • Work with faculty and vendors to acquire and assure availability of sportswear.

  • Supervise maintenance of stock, displays, signs, and inventory; manage year-end inventory utilizing computer to check for theft and shrinkage.

  • Develop and implement systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the operating unit.

  • Represent the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promote existing and new programs and/or policies.

  • Coordinate presentations to faculty, students and staff at orientation sessions and campus councils.

  • May oversee the operation of auxiliary services such as vending machines or student service areas.

  • Administers parking decals and permits distribution.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.

  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications (CUNYFirst, Blackboard)

  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control

  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Knowledge of purchase orders and related accounts payable documentation

  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments

  • Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations

  • Knowledge of retail floor merchandising and stock control procedures

  • Ability to supervise and train employees to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments

  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment

  • Knowledge of textbook and school supply vendors and procurement procedures
