  • Maximum tenure for any employee in this hourly position is 1040 hours per year.

  • Performs routine clerical work; may answer and attend to telephone calls; maintain records,

operate office machines (such as copier), sort and distribute mail, issue keys and identity cards,

act as messenger, and perform related tasks as required.

  • Types letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials.

  • Acts as cashier.

  • Assists in statistical or research activities. May collect and compile data, code data for computer entry, perform data entry, and run computer reports.

  • Performs clerical library work, such as sorting and shelving books, performing data entry into library systems, or binding books and periodicals.

  • Assists in instructional programs, including tutoring and assisting students in areas such as reading and mathematics. May assist in speech and hearing therapy, provide musical accompaniment, and/or distribute and collect physical education equipment.

  • Enters and maintains departmental records such as inventory control records, rosters, directories, and schedules.

  • May operate computers, computer software, and other electronic equipment in performing assigned tasks.

The Lehman College Student Affairs Division is dedicated to providing quality services and programs that support the College’s mission. The Division fosters students’ academic success, personal growth, career development, retention and persistence to graduation.

The vast majority of college students throughout the country are active and prolific users of social media platforms. Lehman College’s Instagram account has over 7,000 followers; meanwhile, Lehman College’s Twitter account has over 6,000 followers.

Alternatively, the Division of Student Affairs Instagram account has just under 1,000 followers and the Division of Student Affairs has a prime opportunity to tap into another social media platform to further advance the Division and the College’s mission of student success. To strengthen the digital footprint of the Division of Student Affairs, we are seeking a dedicated College Assistant. The successful candidate will be charged with the task of designing beautiful and original content and increasing student engagement with our social media accounts.

The College Assistant will be vital to the emerging and ongoing work of fostering students’ academic success, personal growth, career development, retention and persistence to graduation through our social media platforms.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

· Post and promote important campus-wide information, events and initiatives

· Participate in weekly social media strategy meetings with supervisor

· Design promotional materials for campaigns to attract more student users to the social media accounts owned by the Division of Student Affairs

· Design all images and posts for the Division of Student Affairs social media accounts. This includes taking original pictures, original videos; original audio; and creating original content as needed

· Collect and review data analytics on successful posts and social media campaigns and repeat successful strategies and posts as needed

· Support and promote the expanded usage of other social media platforms in the Division of Student Affairs


  • Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assigned tasks.

The minimum hourly rate is currently $15.61-$25.51/hour

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
