GENERAL DUTIES
Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Natural Sciences Department provides high quality in educational programs in science and engineering as well as in support courses for the AAS, Allied Health and Liberal Arts programs. The Department assists students to develop the skills required to analyze the mechanics of the natural and physical environment, learn to think critically, communicate effectively, cultivate an understanding of basic scientific and ethical values, and become responsible citizens of the world. The department also plays a major role in guiding our students of diverse, multicultural backgrounds to acquire advanced knowledge and research skills empowering them to pursue higher education degrees in science and engineering.
The Natural Sciences Department invites applications for a College Laboratory Technician for the Biology and/or Physical Sciences Units of the Department. Reporting directly to the Senior College Laboratory Technician, the successful candidate will be responsible fo the following:
Prepares and supervises all laboratory experiments and instructional demonstrations
Prepares all chemical solutions, media, and/or cultures for instructional experiments in the Biology Unit
Manages the daily activities of the science labs, stockrooms, cold and hot room and storage areas as well as maintaining general inventory each semester
Assists with chemical inventory and enforces that biological and chemical waste and safety policies and safety training of lab staff
Maintains laboratory computers and equipment and assists faculty with troubleshooting of AV carts (laptops and projectors)
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to their campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.
COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with education and experience up to a maximum of $66,379.
