The EOC Job Developer will report to the EOC Student Services Manager and assist in developing and administering a program to increase retention and completion of students enrolled in academic and vocational programs at the Bronx Educational Opportunity Center (EOC). The EOC Job Developer will work with students, both individually and in groups. S/he will be responsible for maintaining the records for the students enrolled and providing relevant support at internal meetings, external conferences, and presentations, as necessary. Coordinates placement opportunities for EOC students in program-related areas. Contacts businesses and employers and markets the EOC and the capabilities of its students. Assists with setting up meetings and events. Presents information sessions to students on employment related topics. Conducts job preparation activities for students.


Bachelor's Degree required.

Bronx EOC is looking for applicants, preferably, with experience and demonstrated record of job placement; job development experience with an educational or non-profit organization desirable. The preferred candidate for this position will have excellent communications skills, ability to work with multicultural caseloads and ethnically diverse staff, and ability to network with potential employers as well as posses a strong commitment to team work. Experience in higher education or not-for-profit is preferred. Knowledge of academic and vocational programs, financial aid, and higher education opportunities in the New York metropolitan area with specific experience with diverse, urban populations is a plus.


Provides vocational counseling and career development information to students seeking employment and promotes Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) services to the community and other interested parties.

  • Provides training and coaching in basic job search skills

  • Assesses transferable skills and interests

  • Assists with vocational planning

  • Provides referrals to job development training and other resources

  • Counsels students with barriers to employment

  • Provides follow-up services

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
