The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman is CUNY's only senior college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The teaching load is 18 hours per year and although the college is predominantly teaching focused, faculty at Lehman are active in research, scholarship and creative works. Service to the college, university and community is part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement including advisement. Teaching is reduced for junior faculty over the first five years for scholarly development and all faculty are actively encouraged to seek external funding. Opportunities are available for faculty development and travel awards. Lehman College and CUNY internal funding is available through competitive grants for scholarship support.

The Department of Economics and Business invites applications for a tenure-track Instructor or Assistant, Associate, or Full professorship beginning Fall 2020. Candidates must have an active record of research/scholarship/creative works, and a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Accounting, engage in research/scholarship and professional organization, advise and mentor students, provide service to the department, college, university, and community, i.e. program coordination, committee, administrative, supervisory, and other assignments normally associated with a full-time tenure-track academic appointment. Evening teaching is required. Weekend and online teaching will also be expected. With close to 1,500 majors and offering five undergraduate degrees and two MS degrees, the Department of Economics and Business is one of the biggest departments at Lehman. Future plans for the department include a move to a school of business which will eventually seek AACSB accreditation.


For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Accounting and CPA required on commencement of the appointment, and a record of academic publications in high-quality scientific journals. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Active involvement in professional organizations and sincere commitment to students are expected.

For Instructor: Master’s degree in area(s) of expertise and CPA, and or active progress towards a doctorate or equivalent on commencement of the appointment. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Active involvement in professional organizations and sincere commitment to student are expected.

Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of scholarly activity. Experience in delivery of both on-campus and on-line classes. Work/industry experience in accounting as well as CPA certification.
