Full time Lecturer position for Fall 2021.

The Department of Chemistry, Earth Sciences and Environmental Sciences at Bronx Community College of the City University of New York invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Earth and Environmental Science.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the department courses in Environmental Science, Earth Science (Geology, Meteorology and Oceanography) and Geospatial Technology. The successful candidate may also be called upon to teach the department’s Introduction to College Chemistry (CHM02) and Chemistry in Everyday Life (CHM13) courses. The successful candidate should be experienced in teaching in both in-person and in CUNY approved distance learning modes of instruction. The successful candidate will also be required to incorporate experiential learning activities (in-person and virtual) in their courses. The successful candidate will have to contribute to curriculum and program development; serve on department, college and university committees; advise students; mentor students; conduct professional development activities to help in the growth of the department. The successful candidate may also be assigned evening, weekend and distance learning classes, as needed by the department.


A Bachelor’s degree in an Earth Science field (Geology, Geography, Meteorology, Oceanography, Geomorphology, Geography, etc.), or Environmental Science, or a closely related field. Also required are the ability to teach successfully to at risk students in an urban environment, demonstrated professional development or achievement, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the department, college and university.


A Master’s degree in an Earth Science field (Geology, Meteorology, Oceanography, Geomorphology, Geography, etc), or Environmental Science or a closely related field


Salary Range: $47,598 - $77,462 (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
