The Department of Exercise Sciences and Recreation invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Exercise Science program beginning Fall 2023. Candidates must have a strong commitment to Exercise Science at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The Department of Exercise Sciences and Recreation is currently housed in the School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing (HS2N). The School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing currently includes six departments: Exercise Sciences and Recreation; Health Promotion and Nutrition Sciences; Health Equity, Administration, and Technology; Social Work; Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, and Nursing. The school is also home to the CUNY Institute for Health Equity. Departments in the School actively engage with community and government partners to support evidence-based practices and health equity, with a special

emphasis on urban populations. The faculty are also strongly committed to high quality teaching and preparation of ethical and skilled health and human service professionals.

The Exercise Science programs currently enroll over 350 undergraduate and 25 graduate students. Our program attracts students from within and outside of NYS and abroad and provides a quality education in the Exercise Science discipline and profession. The program enjoys an outstanding reputation in the region, has an extensive alumni network and close relationships with many professionals and agencies for intern sites, job opportunities for students and graduates, and collaborative endeavors.

The undergraduate Exercise Science program offers two tracks: (1) Pre-Physical Therapy for those planning to apply to physical therapy graduate programs, and; (2) Exercise and Movement Science for those seeking careers as personal trainers, exercise physiologists, and other fitness specialists. The Exercise Science program also offers a graduate program in Human Performance and Fitness. The successful candidate is expected to teach and advise students, coordinate the internship program, and actively participate in Departmental and College committees and professional organizations.

The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman is a four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic-serving Institution. Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise required for Lecturer. For a Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule), Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent is required on commencement of the appointment as well evidence of successful teaching record at the college level. Demonstrated experience working in a large and diverse program, administrative skills, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution are required.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
