CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
College Now at Hostos Community College seeks applications for a Program Assistant. In collaboration with nearly sixty South Bronx high schools and the Department of Education, Hostos College Now has designed and established an integrated academic program with comprehensive support services for high school students. In 2013-2014, over 1,000 high school students from partnering South Bronx high schools registered for College Now courses and activities, including Introduction to Criminal Justice, Introduction to Business, Psychology, and Expository Writing. All students participate for free.
Reporting to the Associate Director of College Now, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Gather and review College Now applications.
Manage online application process.
Maintain communication with high school partners about applications and enrollment.
Plan and implement program initiatives such as student orientations, tours, special events on campus, and recruitment.
Assist with planning of summer internships.
Responsible for media and communications.
Support the development of student ambassador program.
Plan and facilitate college readiness workshops for summer programs.
May conduct recruitment visits at high schools and community events.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are preferred:
One or more years of relevant education and work experience
Experience working in bridge-to-college programs and project management
Strong written, computer, organization and interpersonal skills
COMPENSATION
$44.69/hr
225 maximum hours per semester, with possibility of continuation, pending funding.
