Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) helps students earn their college degree as quickly as possible, by removing the financial, academic, and personal obstacles that many students confront. Key ASAP program features include a consolidated block schedule, cohorts by major, required full-time study and comprehensive advisement and career development services. City Tech welcomes applications for the position of Associate Director for Recruitment, Retention and Student Support. Reporting to the ASAP Director, the Associate Director will manage the day-to-day functions, and supervise staff responsible for, non-advisement components of the ASAP Program. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include but are not limited to:

Recruitment:

• Propose, execute and evaluate outreach strategies to meet annual recruitment goals.

• Supervise Recruitment staff

• Collaborate with Financial Aid to ensure timely processing and guiding of perspective students.

• Develop a system to evaluate the success of recruitment goals.

Retention:

• Supervise extra-curricular and co-curricular programming to advance student learning and promote retention.

• Collaborate with faculty and department chairs to support student learning through discipline-based programming.

• Collaborate with Executive Director to establish retention goals and execute internal assessments.

Student Support:

• Oversee the ASAP Academic Program Coordinator in managing tutoring, STEM support, research opportunities and other academic enrichment activities.

• Work with the Director, ASAP Financial Aid Specialist, Enrollment Coordinator, Bursar and Financial Aid Office to monitor financial aid status and ASAP waiver application process.

• Supervise the Career and Employment Specialist in designing and presenting career, internship and networking opportunities and in assuring all students meet benchmarks in this area prior to graduation.

• Oversee the management of the MetroCard distribution process

• Collaborate with other campus units to strengthen the support services offerings and access for ASAP Students.

• Work with the ASAP Student Engagement Team to plan, execute and evaluate co-curricular and student engagement activities.

• Oversee Program's Social Media presence and Communication efforts

Work evenings and weekends, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in an appropriate discipline and six years related experience.

The preferred candidate will have:

• Strong organization, project management, communication, and facilitation skills.

• Experience or familiarity with STEM-related programs.

• Experience working in special programs and/or with a cohort model.

• Understanding of Student Development, Retention and Student Engagement theories and their application.

• Understanding of Financial Aid processes and it’s relationship to academic Advisement.

• Understanding of student and academic data management and utilization

• Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of student activities

• Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Access and Excel); and aptitude to learn new systems as needed.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.

• Knowledge of CUNYFirst (PeopleSoft), a plus.

Reporting to the ASAP Director, the ASAP Manager is responsible for the daily administration of ASAP program activities.

  • Establishes semester block programs and manages and schedules all other academic support activities such as tutoring and workshops

  • Supervises planning and implementation of ASAP summer programming, including summer course taking, workshops, and the ASAP summer institute, and other special student activities

  • Assists Financial Aid, Registrar, and Bursar in evaluating student eligibility, finalizing registration, and verifying tuition charges

  • Assists the ASAP Director with required reporting and collaboration with other college units

  • Monitors and assesses data reports on a regular basis to ensure movement towards ASAP success benchmarks and to determine student support needs

  • Oversees advisement and delivery of comprehensive support services to ASAP students

  • Supervises professional and support staff

  • Performs related duties as assigned
