Reporting to the Director, the Coordinator, in collaboration with the ASAP team and campus wide stakeholders, supports planning and execution of academic support initiatives for ASAP to promote academic success.

  • Coordinate the hiring, training, and scheduling of tutors across a variety of disciplines

  • Coordinate program materials and outreach for group and individual tutoring

  • Support and promote all academic support programs, and co-academic opportunities including undergraduate research and internships

  • Assist with the implementation of STEM initiatives including skills building workshops and other co-curricular programs and expansion of Peer Led Team Learning (PLTL)

  • Assist with program recruitment and retention efforts


Bachelor's Degree required.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • An understanding of the needs and challenges facing students from diverse urban backgrounds

  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organization, communication, and facilitation skills

  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of student activities

  • Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Access and Excel); and aptitude to learn new systems as needed. Knowledge of CUNYFirst (PeopleSoft), desirable

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed


Provides basic operational and analytical support related to a College's specialized academic program.

  • Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration

  • Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities

  • Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students

  • Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards

  • Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures

  • May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
