POSITION DETAILS

Brooklyn College Academy is a small comprehensive 9th through 12th grade Early College High School established by the New York City Board of Education in collaboration with the City University of New York. The Academy is housed at two locations and admits students from throughout Brooklyn who are seeking a college preparatory setting.

Reporting to the Principal of Brooklyn College Academy with oversight by the Brooklyn College Dean of Education, the Academic Student Support Manager will manage student support, enrollment, Adjunct hiring and administrative responsibilities for the Early College Program. Will participate in student outreach and recruitment, manage data collection and serve as the Early College delegate for CUNY and Brooklyn College Academy.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that students at Brooklyn College Academy's Campus and Annex sites are aware of Early College and other collaborative program offerings by promoting their availability at each grade level to parents and students. Create and facilitate presentations for parents and other constituents of the Brooklyn College Academy community. Assist in the screening, processing, and orientation of students to Early College waiver and cohort courses.

  • Expand the Early College program; support the creation of new curriculum course offerings relevant to the demands of the 21st Century.

  • Manage relations between Brooklyn College Academy, CUNY Central, and Brooklyn College Academic Departments. Liaise with Brooklyn College's Office of Admissions, Immunizations, the Registrar, the Bursar and Budget Management to admit and register students for appropriate Early College cohort and waiver classes. Certify that adds, drops and withdrawals are processed.

  • Ensure that student biographical data is collected to be entered into the appropriate data systems. Collect, maintain, analyze and report data concerning Early College student applications, enrollment and success for use by the Brooklyn College Academy administration and Brooklyn College for use in reports to CUNY Central, the New York City Department of Education, MCNC, and NCREST.

  • Manage the Teaching Adjuncts recruitment, interview and hiring process. Establish on-going communication with Department Chairs at Brooklyn College in an effort to obtain qualified teaching adjuncts for our course and contact departments for additional course offerings.

  • Work with the Teaching Adjuncts to establish guidelines for student performance, and track student progress in order to ensure student success. Work with the Center for Student Disability to assist both professors and students with disabilities to meet students’ needs.

  • Collaborate with the high school guidance counselors to identify and reach out to potential candidates for Early College and other collaborative programs. Work with the BCSTEP Director to develop potential summer courses to offer to students. Promote, advertises and registers students for these summer programs.

  • Serve as Budget Administrator for purchases and funds transfers to individual departments within the college as well as outside vendors. Coordinate budget with Brooklyn College SVP for Finance and Administration and Director of Budget.

  • Serve as the Payroll Administrator to ensure that all adjuncts, lab technicians and college assistants are appointed, processed with Human Resources and receive their pay in a timely fashion.

  • Schedule and facilitate ongoing meetings with Brooklyn College Academy administration, Early College course instructors, and high school advisory teachers to discuss student progress, ongoing challenges, and program plans.

  • Ensures that the necessary student biographical data is collected to be entered into the appropriate data systems. Coordinate the Senior Student Survey process for CUNY ECI.

  • Participate in the MCNC Summer Professional Development Institute and all CUNY Early College Initiative and related sub-committee meetings.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

  • Collects data for, analyzes, and reports on activities and outcomes
