FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Accounting in the Koppelman School of Business at Brooklyn College CUNY seeks adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate courses in a number of different areas of Accounting commencing in spring 2020. The Koppelman School is proud of their recent accreditation by AACSB international in May 2019. Brooklyn College has recently been lauded in numerous media for the quality and value of its undergraduate education and for its number 1 position in the northeast for diversity on campus. Applicants should be eager to engage with our fabulous students from every corner of the world. We are proud of our reputation for accelerating social mobility in Brooklyn and NYC at large and expect that the right candidates will be similarly enthusiastic. Adjunct instructors typically teach 1 – 3 courses a semester.

The Department of Accounting is one of the largest in the Koppelman School and has 15 full-time faculty currently augmented by 2 substitute faculty. The Department offers a 120-hr. BS Accounting, a 120-hr. BS Internal Accounting, a 150-hr. BS Public Accounting and Business Management (jointly with the Business Management Department), and an MS in Accounting Programs. We invite applications to teach at the undergraduate level for the following:

  • Taxation

  • Business Law

  • Accounting Information Systems

  • Forensic Accounting

  • Accounting Analytics

QUALIFICATIONS

FOR ADJUNCT LECTURER:

Minimum Qualification

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or tax or a discipline closely related to the subject of the courses to be taught and CPA.

-Ability to teach successfully

Preferred Qualification

  • Minimum of 5 years substantive, practical work experience and continued strong engagement in accounting or legal practice with demonstrated ability to teach

FOR ADJUNCT ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE, OR FULL PROFESSOR:

Minimum Qualification

  • ABD status in a doctoral program in accounting or tax or field related to the courses to be taught and the ability to teach successfully

Preferred Qualification

  • Ph.D. in Accounting or field related to the courses to be taught with record of scholarship and successful teaching experience

  • Demonstrated ability to teach (can come from academic or other experience)

COMPENSATION

Compensation is commensurate with experience and education. All appointments are subject to financial availability.
