GENERAL DUTIES
Performs supervisory and/or complex technical functions in laboratories in support of coursework.
Maintains, fabricates, modifies, and repairs laboratory equipment
Determines equipment requirements; prepares purchase specifications and coordinates acquisition of equipment

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Surgical Technology Program at Kingsborough Community College seeks an Adjunct Senior College Laboratory Technician (Adjunct Senior CLT). The Adjunct Senior CLT plays an integral role in the students' development of knowledge and skills needed to successfully achieve the expected learing outcomes as described in each course syllabus. The Adjunct Senior CLT assists instructors with the preparation of lab courses and guides students through practical skills sessions of the program.
Reporting to the Program Director, the Adjunct Senior CLT will be responsible for the following essential duties in addition to the General Duties:
Use appropriate standard aseptic techniques recommended by the AST
Organize and prepare supplies; instruments and equipment necessary for practical training
Be present for open lab hours for lab practice and skills remediation
Use appropriate techniques to provide students with the knowledge needed to achieve the learning outcomes for each surgical technology lab course offered
Assure that all students are taught skills properly using the AST recommended aseptic practices when demonstrating skills during open lab training
Assist with students' preparation for the NBSTSA National Examination and run exam reviews
Bring problems to the attention of the immediate supervisor
Be an objective evaluator for the skills examinations and evaluations
Maintains records of supplies, inventories and student's performance and activities during open lab sessions
Maintain contact with all professors who send theier students to the lab for remediation
Maintains knowledge of program goals
Maintains current knowlege of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development
Gather all information for purchase orders each semester
Participate in program meetings
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma with a minimum of eight years related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. This position also requires the ability to direct train, and supervise others.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Applied Sciences in Surgical Technology from a CASHEP accredited program and hold current NBSTSA Certification (Certified Surgical Technologist). A minimum of five (5) years of work experience as a surgical technologist, and have a least one (1) year active participation on either precepting students in the operating room or laboratory teaching in the field of surgical technology. Have appropriate professional and/or occupational, organizational and excellent interpersonal skills.
COMPENSATION
$38.50 - $51.06 per hour. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
