CUNY Administrative Coordinator - Department of English in Brooklyn, New York


The Administrative Coordinator in the English department at Kingsborough Community College interacts with 60 full-time and 50 part-time faculty regarding office administrative functions and needs. The Administrative Coordinator reports to the English Department Chair.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responds to multiple student inquiries/requests both by phone and in person

  • Coordinates with Academic Scheduling on instructor assignments and class schedules for multiple semesters

  • Communicates with administrative offices regarding departmental administrative needs

  • Coordinates with Directors of College-wide Programs regarding administrative functions and scheduling of courses

  • Serves as liaison with Human Resources regarding time sheets and coordinates payroll

  • Supervises part-time office staff


Bachelor's Degree required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of CUNYfirst or PeopleSoft

  • Experience monitoring daily routines and supervising staff in a busy office environment


Supports projects, initiatives, and activities that impact an academic or administrative department.

  • Manages basic office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information.

  • Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

  • Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections.

  • Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.

  • Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.

  • Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.

  • May supervise office staff and student workers.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
