FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a full-time, entry level tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Chemistry, with a focus in Biochemistry, Bioanalytical Chemistry, or Biophysical Chemistry and a starting date in August 2023.
The Department of Chemistry is home to 17 full-time faculty and six full-time laboratory technicians who are committed to maintaining a vigorous instructional and research mission. The department places a high premium on supporting students from minority groups under-represented in the sciences, and recently won an award from the American Chemical Society in recognition of these efforts.
The School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs through its nine departments – Anthropology and Archaeology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Health and Nutrition Sciences, Math, Physics, and Psychology.

The successful applicant will possess a doctoral degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline. The applicant will have a record demonstrating their potential for success in establishing an independent, externally-funded research program in experimental or theoretical science. The applicant must also have an interest in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field from an accredited institution
Ability to teach undergraduate or graduate courses is required
Ability to teach evening, weekends, face-to-face, and online
Demonstrated excellence in research including a strong publication record.
Potential for excellence in teaching, including online teaching, and in scholarship.
Interest in innovative pedagogies and/or strategies for student support and retention
$72,667 - $93,134; Salary commensurate with experience and credentials.
