Assistant Professor - Biology (Two Positions)
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a two full-time, entry level tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Biology, with a focus in microbiology, cell and molecular physiology, genetics, or cancer biology (using tissue culture or non-mammalian animal model systems) and a starting date in August 2023.
The School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences at Brooklyn College offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs through its nine departments – Anthropology and Archaeology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Health and Nutrition Sciences, Math, Physics, and Psychology. The Department of Biology is home to 15 full-time faculty and staff who are committed to equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their chosen careers.

Develop and maintain an active research program in the field of biological sciences.
Effectively teach and develop curricula for undergraduate and graduate courses.
Conduct student advisement and research mentoring.
Share responsibility for committee and department assignments, and perform administrative, supervisory, mentoring and other related functions.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Ph.D. in Biology or related field from an accredited institution
Potential to develop an active, externally funded research program.
Ability to teach undergraduate or graduate courses is required
Ability to teach evening, weekends, face-to-face, and online
Demonstrated ability to submit and/or obtain research grants, fellowships and scholarships
Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level.
Expertise in one of the following areas: cancer biology, immunology, host-microbial interactions
Potential for excellence in teaching, including online teaching, and in scholarship.
$72,667 - $93,134; Salary commensurate with experience and credentials.

Research Plan and Statement: Statement of Proposed Research Plan (1-2 pages). This writing sample should be geared towards candidate’s research interests and demonstrate an ability to successfully apply for external funding to establish an independent research program at Brooklyn College. The plan can also include the generation of preliminary data for the candidate’s research program. Candidates are encouraged to provide three-year research agenda (optional). Additional material may be provided during the interview process.
