New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college of over 17,000 students in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degree in technology and health related degree programs, other career-oriented degrees and liberal arts transfer degrees in its Schools of Arts and Sciences, Technology and Design, and Professional Studies. City Tech invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering Technology (E&TET;) Department at the Assistant Professor level, to begin during the fall 2019 semester.
The Department’s associate degree programs in electrical and telecommunications engineering technology prepare graduates for careers as electronic and telecommunications technicians. The baccalaureate programs in telecommunications engineering technology (BTech) and electrical engineering technology (BTech) prepare graduates for careers as telecommunications technologists and electrical technologists. The BTech programs build upon the skills learned in the first two years and add more advanced study in areas such as data communications, coding, computer systems, satellite, fiber optic communications, power systems, control systems, and power electronics. We also offer a number of other emerging telecom and electrical engineering technology courses. All four programs are accredited by ETAC of ABET.
E&TET; is composed of highly qualified faculty, some well recognized internationally. The employers of graduates include Citicorp, MTA, Verizon, and Con Edison among others.
We are looking for a candidate with expertise in both electrical and telecommunications engineering technology with emphasis on its electrical part. For the new BTech in Electrical Engineering Technology program, we are especially interested in an individual who specializes in at least one of the following fields: a. Analog and digital electronics b. Power systems c. Control systems
We seek a professional who is dedicated to teaching, curriculum development, and student advisement; who can contribute to the department’s continuous work on upgrading and further developing our laboratories; and who is prepared to conduct scholarly work that will contribute to the advancement of our programs. Faculty members in the department teach a wide spectrum of courses, from basic electrical and electronic concepts to modern telecommunications, including support for emerging applications.
Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (EE) or a related field, and a minimum of three years of teaching/ industrial experience. A commitment to research and scholarship in the field is expected.
In addition, the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution are required.
