FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college offering 60 associate and bachelor’s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn. The Chemistry Department at City Tech invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin Spring or Fall 2023.

The Chemistry Department at City Tech offers an associate degree (AS) in Chemical Technology and a baccalaureate degree (BS) in Applied Chemistry.

This position requires teaching, research and other scholarly pursuits, service to the college, and student advisement. City Tech offers opportunity for professional development through collaborations with the larger CUNY community. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active research program, be committed to excellence in teaching, and provide service to the Chemistry Department, the School of Arts and Sciences and support the mission of the college and university. Research work with undergraduate students in an area of applied chemical science is strongly encouraged.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field is required by the time of employment. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preferred Qualifications

Postdoctoral or industry experience in a field of Applied Chemical Science is desirable, as well as strong expertise in advanced laboratory instrumentation and/or computational chemistry.

Vaccine Requirement

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

COMPENSATION

$75,465 - $93,134
