FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college offering 60 associate and bachelor’s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn, invites applications for a tenure track position, at the Assistant Professor level, to begin during the 2022-2023 academic year.

The Department of Hospitality Management is recognized internationally as the premier hospitality management program of the City University of New York. The department is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA) and offers both associate and bachelor’s degrees.

In addition to teaching, this position offers an opportunity to develop curriculum and pedagogy, conduct scholarly work, and contribute to the vitality of a dynamic and highly regarded department, with strong links to industry. The position requires a commitment to teaching, scholarly research resulting in publications, presentations and/or other creative products, sustained service to the department and college, and academic advisement.

Duties include:

  • Teach courses in the diverse offerings of the Department of Hospitality Management, including, but not limited to: culinary arts, international cuisine, garde manger, vegetarian cuisine, food and beverage management, food and beverage cost control, and/or sanitation.

  • Work collaboratively on department level efforts, playing an active role in the creation, development, and assessment of new curricula and pedagogy;

  • Participate actively in College/University-wide initiatives

  • Student advisement and guidance

  • Day, evening, and weekend teaching and department duties may be required.

  • Continued professional growth and scholarly contributions to the field are expected.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications are a Master’s Degree with at least 5 years of post-degree employment in culinary arts. Current ServSafe certification or NYC Department of Health Food Handler certification required. Higher education teaching experience preferred. The preferred candidate will have a history of significant culinary arts experience.
