New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, offering 60 associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Health Sciences, to begin in Spring or Fall 2023.

The Department of Health Sciences offers an associate level degree (AS) in Health Science, a baccalaureate degree (BS) in Health Services Administration and a newly-launched baccalaureate degree (BS) in Healthcare Policy and Management. The curriculum covers health safety, health dynamics, health policy and management principles, health law and compliance, health care financing and accounting, health management and information systems, health research methods, and medical metrics.

The Assistant Professor is expected to participate actively in research, professional development, and other scholarly activities leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations; be committeed to excellence in teaching; and provide service to the Health Sciences Department, the School of Professional Studies, to support the mission of the College and the University. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate is expected to engage in academic advisement, program and curriculum development, assessment, both in-person and online teaching, as well as Department, College, and University projects.

Duties include:

  • Teach courses in the diverse offerings of the Department of Health Sciences.

  • Work collaboratively on department-level efforts, playing an active role in the development, implementation and assessment of new curricula and pedagogy.

  • Participate actively in Department/College/University-wide initiatives.

  • Provide student advisement and guidance.

  • Actively participate in research and professional development, leading to peer-reviewed scholarly activities.

  • Mentor students in areas such as research, writing and community and professional association activities.

  • Day, evening, and weekend teaching and department duties required as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. or terminal degree in a related subject or discipline that compliments the Health Sciences Curriculum is required by the time of employment. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A doctorate in Health Administration, Public Administration, Public Health, or related clinical field.

  • Five (5) or more years post-Master’s employment in the healthcare industry or in higher education.

  • Higher education teaching experience and evidence of publications and/or grant funding.

  • Presentations, panels, workshop coordination, community involvement, and/or other related experiences preferred.

  • Proficiency in using Blackboard or another LMS for online pedagogy strongly preferred.

Vaccine requirement

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.


$75,465 - $93,134
