POSITION DETAILS
The State University of New York, Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center, provides tuition free academic and workforce development training to eligible New York State residents, providing a pathway to lifelong learning, college access and economic self-sufficiency.
Reporting to the Director of Business Affairs, the Business Administrative Specialist provides support for the Office of Business and Administrative Services to ensure the successful operation of the department.
GENERAL DUTIES
The duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:
• Schedule and coordinate activities for all the administrative units of the department
• Maintain critical calendar dates and ensure adherence to project timelines for the department
• Assist in preparing budget and financial plans for the Center
• Assist in coordinating the purchasing of goods and services for the Center
• Assist in reviewing revenues and expenses to ensure that they are recorded appropriately
• Participate in the application of internal controls
• Process various personnel transactions involving employee record-keeping
• Work with Payroll to process personnel transactions
• Collaborate with Human Resources for hiring functions and processes
• Respond to queries from students, staff and the public
• Supervise office support staff, including student workers
• Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance or related area.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks.
Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
Vaccine Requirement
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

Oversees department operations and assists management in planning department activities, creating schedules, assigning staff and preparing and delivering department communications.
Works with appropriate offices related to personnel recruitment, expediting search activities
Research coordinates and organizes materials for key events such as promotion and tenure reviews.
Supervises and trains support staff and student workers.
Manages budget and coordinates purchasing, accounting, and payroll.
Provides instructions and basic advice to students, faculty, and others seeking information on department activities, policies, and schedules.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $52,267 to $64,649
