CUNY Communications and College Relations Manager in Brooklyn, New York
The Communications and College Relations Manager at New York City College of Technology reports to the Special Assistant to the President, the College’s chief institutional advancement officer. The Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a tactical communications strategy; managing, and coordinating program marketing efforts and media relations including social media, and will supporting fundraising and business development. The position requires ongoing collaboration with internal constituencies as well as a diverse set of School partners.
The Communications and College Relations Manager performs a wide range of communication activities to support the mission of New York City College of Technology, including writing press releases, promotional materials, social media posts and preparing other written material on a variety of topics covering students, alumni, faculty, campus facilities, academic programs, and/or events. The preferred candidate will work across reporting lines to manage and integrate college-wide resources to support the College’s communications and marketing goals.
With considerable latitude for independent decisions, In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Communications Manager’s duties include:
Develop and implement advertising and communications campaigns, working with IVC staff and with relevant College offices, e.g. Recruitment, Public Relations and others
Identify and develop new audiences and communities to further the mission of the College
Plan and implement communications campaigns, working with Image and Visual Communications staff and key constituencies
Write and produce web and publication features, news releases, speeches, and scripts for campus events, brochures, programs, and other web/print assignments.
Manage college social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
Represent the College to a portfolio of external organizations Establish and maintain communication and ongoing working relationships with outside organizations. Maintain relationships with media representatives
Manages the design, implementation, and management of communications to support College visibility and recognition
Bachelor’s degree and six years’ related experience required.
Master's degree preferred;
Creative, analytical, evaluative, interpretive, and critical thinking to implement the best practices across the various disciplines; strong verbal and written communication skills necessary
Experience in higher education preferred
Ability to partner with College offices to build and implement plans for effective communication
Superb writing skills, strong proofreading and copy-editing skills
Exceptional organization and time management skills
Ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines
Ability to take direction and work independently to achieve established goals
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Develops and implements advertising and communications campaigns, working with publications and editorial personnel
Maintain relationships with media representatives
Performs related duties as assigned.
