Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty three colleges within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Named for the late civil rights leader, Medgar Wiley Evers (1925-1963), the College's mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career-oriented undergraduate degree programs in the context of liberal education.

Located in Central Brooklyn, MEC was established in 1970 with a mandate to meet the educational and social needs of the Central Brooklyn community, currently enrolling 7,000 students in degree programs. Students represent 105 countries around the world! MEC students obtain Associate degrees in 8 fields, and Baccalaureate degrees in 18 fields. They are instructed by over 208 Full-time dedicated faculty members who must maintain a portfolio of scholarship and research. To meet the needs of its students, the College offers courses and programs at various times, is growing their online program offerings, and in offsite locations.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications & Government Relations, the Communications Broadcast and Multimedia Production Specialist is responsible for creating compelling multimedia content which effectively communicates Medgar Evers College’s identity, mission, and key messages and objectives. The Specialist will assist in creating branding standards and ensure adherence to communication policies and procedures.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Create and edit content for internal and external site utilizing various types of media (photography, video, audio, web). Assemble multimedia materials and collateral for recruitment, marketing, solicitations, training support, instructional videos, podcasts etc.

  • Collaborate with internal academic and executive staff and external personnel to develop multimedia concepts to communicate key messages focusing on academic programs, college news and other college-wide information, as directed by supervisor

  • Plan video and photography shoots; scout, select and reserve shoot locations

  • Create content for updated digital platforms and social media

  • Create, manage and align MEC video archive library

  • Create stock photo library for use in work for all areas of college

  • Collaborate with external partners on multimedia projects to benefit the College

  • Collaborate with other college multimedia production professionals for pre-production, production and post-production activities

  • Ensure quality assurance for all multimedia content featured on the MEC Website, and the College’s YouTube channel and other social media channels

  • Assist in research and identify new multimedia platforms that advance College programs and initiatives.

  • Recommend the acquisition and operation of all hardware and software needed for multimedia development

  • Supervise multimedia staff, such as student workers and interns as they engage in multimedia development activities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

Provides expertise in digital and visual communications to support and advance the College's multimedia presence.

  • Researches and identifies new multimedia platforms that advance College programs and initiatives

  • Works closely with management to understand and produce effective message elements

  • Creates and aligns various communication work products such as video, digital formats, layouts, graphics, web pages, and microsites to ensure consistency and effective messaging

  • Assesses, enhances and manages the user experience on digital platforms including social media

  • Collaborates with graphic designers, webmasters, and other information technology professionals to create comprehensive broadcast and multimedia communications

  • Procures required internal and external resources and services and manages their utilization

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
